Ties with Pakistan will weaken , snap

Accusing Pakistan of doing nothing to help India in investigations into the Mumbai terror attack, Home Minister P Chidambaram has warned that relations between the two countries will slowly “snap” unless Islamabad cooperates with New Delhi in bringing the perpetrators to book. In an interview with The Times of London, Chidambaram suggested that India did not see any justification for maintaining business ties or people-to-people contact with Pakistan in the face of its continued refusal to provide any meaningful assistance to Indian investigators. “There are many, many links between India and Pakistan, and if Pakistan does not cooperate and does not help to bring the perpetrators (of Mumbai attack) to heel, those ties will become weaker and weaker and one day snap,” Chidambaram said.
“Why would we entertain Pakistani business people? Why would we entertain (Pakistani) tourists in India? Why would we send tourists there?” he asked.
Earlier, Gilani told the National Assembly that the dossier sent by New Delhi contained only “information” and no “evidence”. He said the information provided by India needed “careful examination” the results of which would be shared with New Delhi in due course.Chidambaram, however, said in his interview that no cooperation was forthcoming from Pakistan. Asked what help was India getting from Pakistan in the investigations, he said, “Zero. What have they provided? Nothing”.
