What is Kamurta?

It is considered the most inauspicious period, when Sun enters the makar rashi, marking the beginning of Kamurta. Sun moves northwards, which is not considered a good muhurat for any mangalik karya or auspicious work. So, people refrain from activities like weddings, engagemants and even buying and selling. By and large, Kamurta begins on December 15 and goes on for a month.
