Cochin Port becomes country’s first e-port

Crossing a major milestone, the Cochin Port Trust (CPT) has become the county’s first eport by integrating the port’s operations, financial, real estate and human resources systems on an integrated port information system. Called ‘e-thuramugham’ or e-port, the Rs 13 crore project, went ‘live’ on Saturday. The project will become fully operational by April this year and provide a real time interface with customs, port users, banks and the Indian Ports Association.
The system will provide single window facility to the trade for filing applications, receiving service bills, payments and inquires, CPT chairman N Ramachandran said.
The project covers computerisation of all itscustomer facing and internal back office processes to improve its all round efficiency, making it a single window port.
