Congress buys ‘Jai Ho’ rights for poll campaign

Seeing new promise in the runaway success of Slumdog Millionaire, the Congress has acquired the exclusive rights of the film’s number Jai Ho for the poll campaign. According to sources, the party has secured the rights of both the lyrics and tune of the hit number for its campaign. The Oscar won by music director A R Rahman and lyricist Gulzar for the song gave Jai Ho unprecedented popularity. What perhaps made the Congress managers curious about the number was its ability to break the language barrier.
