Ramdev forcibly moved to hospital

Baba Ramdev, on fast since June 4, was on Friday forcibly admitted to intensive care in a Dehradun government hospital despite protests by his supporters who insist the yoga guru on drip has not broken his fast. Six administrative officials led by Haridwar district magistrate R Meenakshi Sundaram got Ramdev shifted to the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) at Jolly Grant, around 25km from Dehradun, on the advice of doctors. The team of doctors headed by Dr M S Jaithani said Ramdev’s condition was deteriorating by the hour, and his refusal to break his fast must leave the administration with no option but to hospitalise him. Ramdev is deyhdrated and has low pulse rate. There were attempts to force-feed glucose to Ramdev, said a source, who was carried on a stretcher to an ambulance while his supporters shouted slogans against the Uttarakhand government. Spiritual guru and head of Art of Living Sri Sri Ravi Shankar met Ramdev at HIMS and urged him to break his fast. Ramdev said he won’t until the government accepts his demand to bring black money stashed away in Swiss banks back to the country. Sri Sri told Ramdev that he will speak to the UPA government about his demands.
