When air traffic flow management will be implemented all the communication networks - air traffic control, radar, aircraft, flight plans and weather stations - would be networked and decisions will be taken in collaboration with others in the loop. Pilots, air traffic controllers will be able to see what is happening at other airports because they will have access to information that will be made part of a common pool. This is possible because radar will be networked and integrated at Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata like Chennai did recently.
Benefits of the new system
Capacity of the one million square mile of air space could be used to the maximum
Initially the new system will benefit flights using the 16 EMARSH (Europe, Middle-East, Asia and Himalayan Structure) routes and 10 domestic routes
Flights will be able to fly in the same high altitude flight path without hindrances or criss crossing
Seamless high altitude flying will lead to fuel saving for airlines and less congestion at airports and on the sky
It is estimated that airlines will be able to save US $9 million in cost and around 2,000 hours in terms of delays at 6 Metro airports
