Remote operating station inaugurated

A Remote Operating Station (ROS) for a chain of static sensors in Gujarat was inaugurated by defence minister A K Antony at Indian Coast Guard’s district headquarters in Porbandar.
These sensors aim at preventing undetected intrusion by monitoring the movement of vessels and enhancing the efficacy of search and rescue (SAR) operations in the sea. The sensors would provide near gap free electronic surveillance of the entire Indian coast up to 25 nautical miles from the coast. The sensor data generated by the coastal surveillance network would also be shared with other maritime agencies via the National Command Communication Control and Intelligence (NCCCI) network. This initiative is part of the steps being taken to strengthen coastal security apparatus post 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai.
