DMK chief M Karunanidhi put the UPA government under pressure , saying his party would support any resolution moved by the opposition in Parliament against FDI in multi-brand retail.
The DMK’s executive committee, at an emergency meeting in Chennai , also passed a resolution demanding that the Centre reconsider its FDI decision. Significantly, another resolution urged the government to file a review petition in the SC against its verdict cancelling 122 telecom licences. The aggressive stand was backed by demands from a sizeable section of the executive committee, owing allegiance to Karunanidhi’s son and party treasurer M K Stalin, for snapping ties with the Congress.
