Maha Kumbh comes to an end


With over 70-lakh devotees taking a holy dip at the Sangam on Mahashivaratri the Maha kumbh of 2013 officially came to an end on Sunday. A case of drowning was reported from pontoon bridge number 14 where a youth was killed while three others were rescued. Religious activities marked the last day of Maha Kumbh with pilgrims from across the country especially Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, arriving at the Sangam to take a dip.
Exhaustion and rising temperature caused 11 devotees to faint on way to Sangam. Most of them were observing a fast on Mahashivaratri.
Police implemented a crowd management scheme and regulated crowd at different city areas. Mela officials said that as it was the last day the number of devotees visiting the Kumbh area easily breached the 70-lakh mark.
