The Mukhya Mantri Free Diagnosis scheme, which was on a trial run since April 1, would be officially launched throughout the state in a phased manner starting from Sunday.
Another scheme, Mukhya Mantri BPL Jeevan Raksha Kosh, has been extended to people from 30 other categories, including the BPL families, Aastha cardholders, HIV/AIDS patients and widows/handicapped/ pensioners.
The free diagnosis scheme’s first phase is being launched on the World Health Day (April 7). Under it, patients will have free access to 57 different diagnostic tests in government hospitals linked to medical colleges and 44 tests in district and satellite hospitals.
The scheme’s second phase will be kicked off on Doctor’s Day on July 1 under which 25 essential diagnostic tests will be available free to patients in government community health centres.
In the third and final phase, to be launched on the Independence Day this year, the scheme will cover all primary health centres and dispensaries where patients will get 15 basic diagnostic tests free of cost.
After the free medicines scheme introduced in October 2011 and now, the free diagnosis scheme, Rajasthan has become the first state to literally offer the right to healthcare where not only the doctor’s consultations but also medicines and diagnostic tests are being provided free. Ambulance services in emergency too are free in state.
Gehlot emphasized that his government has successfully implemented 65 different welfare schemes, including several steps taken to provide social security to residents.
