State-run fuel retailers have raised diesel price by 50 paise per litre, excluding VAT, and reduced the price of non-subsidized cooking gas cylinders by Rs 107 each.
This is the 13th increase in diesel price since January 2013, which would take effect from the intervening midnight of Friday and Saturday. Even after the latest increase, oil companies are incurring a loss of Rs 9.24 on each litre.
The price at pumps would be marginally higher due to incremental increase in state tax. In Delhi, the price would rise by 57 paise to Rs 54.91 per litre, while it would cost Rs 63.23 a litre in Mumbai against Rs 62.60 at present.
The latest reduction in non-subsidized cooking gas would bring down the rate to Rs 1,134 in Delhi for each refill that consumers buy beyond their annual quota of 12 subsidized cylinders.
Non-domestic LPG rates were at the beginning of the year hiked by a steep Rs 220 per cylinder but have now been cut in line with softening of international oil rates.
