Make in Maharashtra

Formally underlining his `Make in Maharashtra' policy , in sync with the Centre's initiative, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told industrialists that permission and clearances for investment proposals will be granted within a month and single-point clearance will be given for projects with investments of Rs.100 crore or more. The CM will, along with an empowered group of secretaries, hold monthly reviews of approval required by businesses and investors.
To promote his initiative, Fadnavis met heads of industrial giants such as RIL CMD Mukesh Ambani, Piramal group chairman Ajay Piramal and Kalyani Group chairman Baba Kalyani. Fadnavis, accompanied by state industries minister Prakash Mehta, told them the government had decided to reduce permission and clearances to set up projects.
“Industries will not have to follow up applications with departments,“ said the policy that was shaped up by Fadnavis at a secretary-level meeting of departments earlier. The state also decided to review the river regulation zone policy to remove unnecessary curbs on non-polluting industries and discontinue the location-specific development policy in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) to attract uniform growth. The state also decided to speed up industrial and business expansion outside industrial (MIDC) areas.
Updates on applications, complaints or memorandum of demands submitted to Fadnavis will be sent by the chief minister's office through a text message.

The BJP government in the state has re-sent the Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill 1995, which seeks to ban cow slaughter, for the President's assent. Mahesh Phatak, secretary, animal husbandry and fisheries department, in a November 13 letter informed the Centre that the state government wanted the law enacted.
