Congress + Left in West Bengal

Scripting a new chapter in the state and national politics, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi declared that his party would share power with Left in Bengal. Rahul was flanked by state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury and CPM state committee member Bangsagopal Chowdhury on the dais. The Congress vice-president also exhorted this partymen to hold hands with Left Front supporters and work for the defeat of the ruling Trinamool.
Burdwan had never witnessed such a scene before.Before Rahul's arrival at Dedi Maidan, supporters of Congress, CPM, CPI and Forward Bloc and members of rival trade unions Citu and Aituc marched together to the meeting, heralding a new chapter in Bengal politics.
Bangsagopal said the alliance would work on the lines of the UPA-I government based on a common minimum programme.
Reminding the gathering that it was Congress which had helped Trinamool to come to power in 2011, Rahul said Trinamool had faltered on the development path and got mired in corruption.
Rahul promised that if voted to power, the alliance government won't be run by any individual which is the case with Trinamool and BJP.
