Minimum Support Price for Pulses raised

The Centre has raised the minimum support price for pulses and included a bonus, in a move that is expected to lead to an increase in farmland under pulses cultivation in the country.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, decided to give a bonus of Rs.425 per quintal for pulses over ` and above the minimum support prices (MSP) recommended by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) for 2016-17 kharif season in view of a sharp decline in domestic output and ensuing supply crunch.
Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh said remunerative prices announced would increase the area under planting and further the production.
