4,629 projects to be launched in Surat

New Year has brought a bountiful of developmental projects for Surat city and district with the state government gearing up to inaugurate around 4,629 projects as part of the Republic Day celebrations. In Surat district, the government will spend around Rs 885 crore for the 4,629 projects identified by the administration. Seventy-five of these projects will be launched in Surat city by the municipal corporation while rest of the schemes will be implemented in the rural areas of the district. For the city, around Rs 250 crore will be spent on the projects while the rural areas will get Rs 635 crore. The projects will be inaugurated by 46 state ministers from January 5 to January 26. In Surat city, 14 ministers will inaugurate various projects, including Dabholi Bridge over river Tapi, Aimata flyover, newly-constructed Varachha and Rander zone offices.
The marathon inaugurations will conclude at the Republic Day function to be attended by chief minister Narendra Modi in Surat.“So far, we have finalised 75 projects which will be inaugurated or
launched by 14 ministers,” said city mayor Raju Desai. In rural areas projects like road, bridges, schools and bus stations are lined up for launch.
