After days of dragging its feet, the Andhra Pradesh police booked MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi for hate speech under various acts that include waging war against the state and promoting enmity between people. Owaisi had said at a public meeting in Adilabad on December 24 that Muslims would need just 15 minutes without the police to show 100 crore Hindus who is more powerful.
The police also filed one case against VHP leader Praveen Togadia for saying his organization would turn Bhagyalakshmi temple into another Ayodhya movement. It acted after CM Kiran Reddy told reporters that the law would take its course on Akbaruddin’s comment, saying it was for police to act.
