Kochi LNG Terminal to be commissioned soon

The Petronet LNG terminal at Puthuvype will be commissioned tentatively on August 10 when the first vessel carrying gas from Qatar will arrive.
Pumping of LNG from the vessel to the storage tank at the terminal will begin on August 10 itself.
“The ship will ferry around one lakh cubic meter of LNG, and this will be sufficient for the terminal to be operational for two months considering the current level of limited customer readiness,” R K Garg said.
Only two customers – FACT and BPCL Kochi Refinery are ready to use the LNG now, he added.
The Rs.4,200 crore LNG terminal will be operating at about 8% of the total five million tonnes per year capacity initially.
The commissioning process will go on for about ten days and gas supply from the terminal to the customers will begin around August 15.
