In a first of its kind, the Union government has cleared eleven national highways for a total length of 1817 km for Andhra Pradesh in one-go. While five state roads out of them are already notified as national highways, the remaining six were declared national highways on Friday.
The highways cleared by the national highways ministry include the highway starting from Maidukuru on NH-40 connecting Badvel, Atmakur, Nellore and terminating at Krishnapatnam Port in the state, and the five state roads include the stretch of Hyderabad – Srisailam – Thokapalle.
As the notification is as per the request of the chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the CM expressed his happiness while he thanked the Centre for the bonanza.
