A rattled PM Manmohan Singh on Thursday went on national TV to warn neighbouring countries that they would have to pay a price if they did not curb the use of their territory for launching attacks on India. Singh called the terror attack on Mumbai “wellplanned and well-orchestrated” with external linkages. While he did not name Pakistan, he said the issue would be taken up with “neighbours”. He said the government would go after the perpetrators irrespective of their religion. Singh, however, sounded jaded as he fell back on old remedies that he had touched upon after Delhi blasts to assure the country. He talked about tightening the existing laws to plug loopholes used by terrorists, and stressed “it was essential to immediately set up a federal investigation agency” for terror attacks. In a statement open to interpretation, he said, “We will restrict the entry of suspects into the country.”
