Kerala CM says sorry

The controversy over Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan’s remarks against the family of NSG commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who was killed in the Mumbai terror strike, has blown over with the CM expressing regret and the family reciprocating with an apology. After initial resistance, Achuthanandan expressed regret over his comments. “I express deep sorrow and regret over the pain caused to Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s family by certain remarks made by me,” he said. He has announced Rs 15 lakh solatium to the family. Reciprocating, Sandeep’s family apologized for causing “inconvenience” to Achuthanandan. “On behalf of the family, I apologise to the Kerala CM for causing inconvenience over the matter,” Rajeev, a relative of Sandeep’s father, said. He said the family wanted to close the matter as soon as possible as it was upset over Sandeep’s name appearing in the media in connection with the controversy.
