Trident set to reopen on Dec 21

Mumbai's landmark hotels — The Trident, the Oberoi and the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower — which were damaged in the terror attacks, have commenced restoration work. The Trident said that it will reopen on December 21, almost three weeks after the attacks. The Oberoi will take at least 3-4 months before it starts operation, company officials said. The management plans to enhance security levels at the hotel when it re-opens, and local law enforcement agencies have also been roped in for their assistance. The Mumbai-based Trident and Oberoi together employed 3,585 employees in three shifts, with Trident having a larger chunk of the room inventory of 541 rooms and Oberoi 327 rooms. The Taj group of hotels has also commenced restoration work of the hotel. Sources indicate that Chetan Raikar, the structural engineer of Structwel, will help bring the Taj back to its former glory as soon as possible. The Taj Palace and Tower together have a inventory of 539 rooms.
