Bandra-Worli sea link to open on May 1

The new PWD minister Vimal Mundada has said the Bandra-Worli sea link would be thrown open for traffic on May 1. The project is already delayed by five years. “The date fixed this time gives sufficient time to accommodate the minor hurdles in its way. So there is no scope for further extension or any excuse by the officials concerned,” Vimal Mundada said. The MSRDC had expected to complete the project by December 2008. It awarded the contract to Hindustan Construction Company for Rs 1,306 crore. The sea link will reduce the travel time between Bandra and Worli by up to an hour.
