Forest officials lower a bamboo into a 15-foot deep pond for the leopard to climb up at Hosaholalu village near Mysore on Sunday. However, the rescue operation failed to save the six-year-old leopard. The big cat, having spent the previous night in the pond, was too exhausted to respond to the rescue act.
