India slips 10 spots in prosperity ranking

India has slipped 10 places to the 88th spot, way below neighbouring China, in the World Prosperity Index due to poor healthcare and education systems coupled with weak entrepreneurial infrastructure. China is ranked 58th in the list of 110 countries, which is topped by Norway. Other countries in the top five are Den mark (2), Finland (3), Australia (4) and New Zeland (5).

The prosperity index, compiled by the Londonbased Legatum Institute, is based on 89 variables over 110 countries and grouped into eight subindices. It claims to comprehensively rank the level of prosperity in 110 countries.
