Kochi Metro update

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has announced changes in the alignment of Kochi Metro. After a joint inspection by KMRL, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and district administration, it has been decided to acquire more land to straighten the six curves (below 120 metres) along the Aluva -Petta stretch.
The director board of KMRL had earlier stated that changes would have to be incorporated in the detailed project report prepared by DMRC. District collector P I Sheik Pareeth, who is also a member of KMRL’s director board, said that they need an additional width of 10 metres at Jos Junction.
After completing inspection, KMRL will prepare a report, and its managing director Elias George will initiate discussions with NHAI. Following this, KMRL will proceed with the plans to sign an MoU with the highway authority to begin construction.
