Of Opinion Polls....

The BJP is set to form state governments in all the states going to polls in November-December barring Mizoram, according to an opinion poll conducted for India Today by ORG. The poll suggests comfortable wins for the party in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, and wafer-thin majorities in Delhi and Chhattisgarh.
In Delhi, the survey suggests that the saffron outfit will win 36 seats, thereby just managing to get a majority in the 70-member assembly, while Congress will see its tally nearly halved from 43 to 22. The newly-formed Aam Aadmi Party is projected to win eight seats and others four.
In Chhattisgarh, BJP is predicted to win 46 seats, once again just the number required for a majority in the 90-member House. The Congress, the poll says, will be close behind with 42 seats, leaving two seats for others.
In Madhya Pradesh, BJP looks set to win its third successive term, bagging 140 of the 230 seats in the assembly, while Congress could have to remain content with just 78 seats, leaving 12 for other, smaller parties.
In Rajasthan, the Congress government seems on its way out with the survey projecting that BJP would bag 120 of the 200 seats and the ruling party only 76. That would also mean that others, who had won 26 seats in 2008, would be left with just 4.
