Jaipur's much awaited Metro will soon get operational as Phase I corridor (Mansarovar to Chandpole) has been given the safety nod by Commissioner Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).However, the CMRS while giving the final sanction, has put few conditions before opening the corridor.
It is expected that commercial operation will begin by end of May .
Receiving a safety certification in one go is a big achievement for the Jaipur Metro as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC) has experimented with several new civil designs for the first time in the country . With state-of-art technology , Jaipur Metro is unique in many aspects.General Maneger, DMRC, Atul Gadgill said , “The DMRC has constructed double-storied elevated road and Metro track project for the first time in the country .Similarly , the project also includes construction of stations on a single pier using segmental construction technique, first of its kind in India.
Moreover, for the first time in the country , sharp curves of 120 metre radius are been given by the DMRC. “We have constructed curves of 120 metre radius between Ram Nagar and Shyam Nagar stations and the railway station and Sindhi Camp,“ added Gadgill.
The CMRS on Sunday concluded his inspection of the Metro rail. He tested the train by running it at its maximum speed with 600 passengers onboard. A mock drill for emergency exist was also performed between Chandpole and Sindhi Camp Railway Station.
