Maharashtra to get Rs 5L crore biz: Fadnavis

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said businessmen from Maharashtra would not move to other states on account of his “industry-friendly“ policy . “The state has aimed to generate Rs 5 lakh crore investment and create 20 lakh jobs in the next five years,“ said Fadnavis.
The CM's statement assumes significance as it comes close on the heels of BJP governments in Rajasthan and Gujarat actively wooing investors in the state. Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje is in Mumbai as part of a series of roadshows being held across India and abroad to promote investment opportunities in her state ahead of the `Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit', which is scheduled to be held in Jaipur on November 19 and 20. Shiv Sena had made its displeasure known last September, when Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel had made a similar pitch, focusing on Gujarati industrialists and businessmen based in the commercial capital. “The CM should intervene in this issue and should stop other CMs from pursuing industrialists,“ said Sena spokesperson Arvind Bhosale. However, Fadnavis made light of the Sena's concerns. “I go to Delhi and to other countries to convince investors. We have formulated a industry-friendly policy and we are getting an enthusiastic response,“ the CM said. “Microsoft plans to develop two major data centres in the state for which they are ready to invest Rs.2,000 crore,“ said a source from he industries department.
“Swedish major IKEA intends to set up stores in India.Maharashtra is one state where they have pledged to invest about Rs.1,800 crore. A memorandum of understanding has been signed,“ the source added. US multinational Mars International India is preparing to invest Rs.1,005 crore in the state. “The German state of BadenWürttemberg has signed a deal with us in the field of IT, skill and infrastructure development,“ an official said.
