Tourist traffic may dip by 40%
The economic slowdown had caused a 20-30% drop in tourist arrivals this winter. With Wednesday’s terrorist attack on Mumbai, industry experts fear the drop in tourist traffic could go up to 40%, the largest ever witnessed in the last 6-7 years. India had seen a drop in tourists arrivals—both for leisure and business—after the parliament attack in December 2001. Travel Distribution Summit India 2008, a convention of travel innovators which was on in a suburban Mumbai hotel, was cancelled due to the attack.
