MTNL to provide 3G services in Mumbai from June 1

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) on Friday launched its 3G services, which will roll out from June 1 in the city. MTNL has invested Rs 250 crore for the 3G service, which will roll out its operations in the southern and central parts of the city. Later, it will also be expanded to Navi Mumbai, Kalyan and Dombivali progressively.The company has already upgraded 600 plus towers with a capacity of 7,50,000 subscribers. Announcing the launch, MTNL, CMD, RSP Sinha said, “Customers will feel like they are walking with their laptops. The new 3G will offer superior network quality and a host of value added services (VAS) like survellience capability, SIP (Sessions Initiation Protocol), video and audio stream and download capability and live television connectivity. We are also in talks with more content providers.”
