Somewhere in Mumbai....

The personal email of the union minister of environment and forests, Jairam Ramesh, was publicly announced on a loudspeaker at the Azad Maidan rally by animal lovers to seek a stringent law to protect animals from atrocities. The candlelight vigil, which was held on Saturday across 16 cities, was triggered by an incident of animal cruelty in Lucknow where a man ran over a pregnant stray dog and shot dead her three puppies. At the Mumbai rally, activists cried out Jairam’s personal email by stating: “Please send your requests for a sterner animal protection law directly to the union minister so that he realizes the kind of madness and atrocities inflicted on animals.” Various NGOs like In Defence of Animals, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals , Terra Anima, World For All, Welfare of Stray Dogs, Plant and Animals Welfare Society and animal lovers attended the rally.
