Jaipur Ring Road project

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) received financial bids from three companies for the 47-km Ring Road project. This is the final step before the work is allotted to a developer. The project received poor response from investor companies. Around 22 companies purchased the request for proposal (RFP) documents but few followed through. N C Mathur, project director, said, “There are companies who have purchased RFP already have projects in other states. However, the companies that approached are good as they have qualified.” He added, “Out of the three, two companies have collaboration with foreign construction companies.” The companies sent their bids are Atlanta, a Mumbai based construction company, Shiv-Vani Oil, Om Metals and Sun Josh Supreme, a Gurgaon based company. A JDA official said, “The name of the company to be awarded the work will be announced after two days. The concessional agreement with the company who will be awarded thework will be done on May 27, and the company will start the work within 45 days.” Officials claim the JDA has completed the land acquisition for the 47-km Phase I of the proposed Jaipur Ring Road from Ajmer Road to Agra Road. The JDA has acquired around 1,620 hectares for the project. “Within 45 days the companies will be given 60% of the possession after the bid session to start work”, an official claimed. Earlier, in the pre-bid session, the JDA assured the companies it would get permission from the forest, environment and railway department for the construction.” There are around 19 underpass proposed for the road and four entries and exits have been planned. However, there are many farmers who have said increasing the number of underpasses would affect their land.
