Moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Friday said if Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hanged, the Indo-Pak peace process would be derailed. “The situation in Kashmir would take a serious turn,” he said, adding, “The responsibility for the consequences would lie entirely with the government of India.” Addressing a well-attended Friday congregation at the historic Jamia Mosque in the Nowhatta area of Srinagar, the Mirwaiz also lambasted the BJP, accusing it of mounting pressure on the central government for Afzal’s hanging.
