Maharashtra Signs MoUs for 6,400 cr



The Maharashtra government signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with six companies to build six new projects in the state. The investment agreements work out to Rs. 6,455 crore and are expected to generate thousands of jobs. The state government has granted special incentives to these six companies and the new ventures have been given ‘mega project’ status. Uttam Galawa, Jai Bhole Cement Combine, Thermax Babcock and Wilcox Energy Solutions, Tetra Pak India, Nipro India Corporation, Maharashtra Seamless, Soktas India and Forbes Marshal signed agreements. Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and industries minister Narayan Rane were present at the signing of MOUs in Mumbai. Chavan announced that the state will introduce an aftercare service for the investor, adding the Maharashtra will continue to adopt investor-friendly policy to attract investment. Chavan also announced that World Economic Forum’s India event will be held in Mumbai in November this year. Industry secretary K Shivaji said Maharashtra will provide 60,000 hectares of land for private projects in the next three years.
