Agni V snippets

The ambitious Agni-V, the country’s entirely first inter continental ballistic missile, is being further tested and fine-tuned to enhance the accuracy and intensity of its striking capacity before it is inducted into the Army, said Avinash Chander, Chief Controller (Research and Development) and Programme Director of Agni, DRDO.
He said that future variants of Agni would be 100% made of carbon composite fibre components that can withstand high temperature, including primary and secondary casings of the missile and also the rocket motor.

He was speaking at an event organised to felicitate the team of scientists behind the successful launch of the missile in April .
“Agni-V is not fully made of composite materials but Agni-VI will be fully made of composite components. Composite technology will have a large role in the defence weapons and accessories sector in the coming years,” Avinash Chander said.
With the induction of composite components in the technology, future missiles will no longer have metallic composite casings and components which might not be able to withstand high temperatures. Chander also added that the DRDO and ISRO were presently focussing on stronger tieups with the industrial sector to develop indigenous weapon technologies.
