NSG hub in Gujarat

The Gujarat state government’s request for setting up a regional hub of the National Security Guards (NSG)  has been given an in principle approval by the Union ministry of home affairs. The approval was declared on December 12 last week.
This was stated by RPN Singh, minister of state in the Ministry of Home Affairs. The state government is planning to allot 20 to 50 acres of land outside the Gandhinagar. However, another parcel of land on the outskirts of Ahmedabad too is being considered.
The number or strength of commando groups at the Gujarat base has not yet been disclosed by the home department citing security concerns.
The central government has already established an operational National Security Guard (NSG) base at Manesar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. The NSG commandoes had come to the rescue of people trapped in a terror attack at Gandhinagar.
