Sop Opera : Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a Rs.1.25-lakh crore mega package for poll-bound Bihar, but BJP leaders insisted that it was not just about elections but part of the Centre's commitment to develop the eastern region of the country. With the plans announced earlier, the complete package was worth Rs.1.65-lakh crore.
Petroleum minister Dhar mendra Pradhan said the package was needed to develop the state. “It was a well thoughtout and planned package to uplift a backward state.“ Incidentally , he pitched in with a huge share of projects from his ministry , totalling Rs.21,476 crore. These included expansion of Barauni refinery and new petrochemical plant, construction of gas pipelines, new LPG plants and huge expansion in domestic LPG connections, and the petrol-diesel pipeline from Raxaul to Nepal.
This was second only to the highway projects worth Rs.54,713 crore in the state. He added a framework was ready for each project. “
He said the Centre was concerned about the state right from the beginning. The Rs.20,000-crore ultra mega power project in Banka, to be implemented under PPP , was announced in the last budget. Even the unspent amount of Rs.8,282 crore from the 2013 package was re-sanctioned to Bihar by the government. Pradhan said even the tax holiday on new capital investment continued for Bihar to attract investment.
