Of livable districts in India

In what further cements Delhi’s preeminent position as the most livable Indian city, four of the Capital’s districts made it to the top 20—along with the first three positions—in a well-being index reflecting quality of life. Central Delhi topped the Index, based on the NSSO survey, followed by north Delhi and New Delhi districts while south Delhi was at the 20th position. Its lowly rank would come as a surprise considering the posh tag attached to it. Mumbai and Mumbai suburban were at fourth and fifth positions in the index measured on eight criteria—education, hygiene, entertainment, communication, healthcare, transportation, home amenities and kitchen facilities. Among the metros, Bangalore urban was at 9th followed by Chennai at 10th and Kolkata at 11th in the firstever well-being index of the country derived by a study using data of NSSO survey. From Maharastra, Pune made it to the list of districts with better quality of life at seventh position. South Goa was at 14th position while north Goa is at 18th. When it came to female security index, the worst rating was found in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, western UP, Haryana and Delhi.
