Somewhere in Bangalore....

A senior Karnataka government official who blew the lid off several scams in state housing cooperative societies died on Sunday, five days after he was attacked by goons near a Bangalore hotel. S P Mahantesh was deputy director with the state’s Directorate of Cooperative Audit. The 48-year-old sustained severe head injuries in Tuesday’s attack and was on life support since. Police are still scrambling for clues and no eyewitness has been found. Following statewide outrage, the home minister set up four police teams but there are no leads yet.  Chief minister Sadananda Gowda, who arrived for the mourning on Sunday, was heckled by Mahantesh’s friends and family, who protested against the shoddy probe.
