Chennai will miss the deadline set by the Union ministry of information and broadcasting for digitization of cable network. The Tamil Nadu government has decided to seek an extension of the deadline by six months. The city is among the four metros (others being Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai), where the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has recommended that the cable TV network be made digital by June 30, 2012. State information minister Mukkur N Subramanian told the assembly that the government would seek time to complete digitalisation.
