Of Rajasthan & Aadhaar....

The Rajasthan government has decided to link 10 social schemes being implemented in the state to the Aadhaar cardbased service delivery system launched by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Dudu . Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said even granting electricity and water supply connections, issuing driving licences, registration of properties, transfer and copy of land titles would be linked to the Aadhaar card. Beneficiaries of the Indira Awas Yojana, the three pension schemes for old age, widow and specially-abled persons, MGNREGA job-cards, ration cards and individual schemes of the rural development and panchayati raj department would be identified by their Aadhaar numbers.
“The 6 lakh state government employees will start getting their salaries on the basis of their Aadhaar card numbers by February 2013,” the chief minister announced at the public assembly in Dudu. He added, “The social security pension schemes will be linked to Aadhaar by April 2013.”
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had mentioned in her speech that the state government needed to link their social schemes with the Aadhaar identities so that these reach the intended beneficiaries only. “Aadhaar is not just a card, it will become an 'Aadhaar' (basis) of every citizen in the country to demand his rights,” Sonia said.

Gehlot said the public distribution system (PDS), too, would be linked to the card. “As a pilot project it shall be implemented in Dudu, Shahpura and Chomu tehsils,” Gehlot said. Further, the CM’s housing scheme for rural poor would also be linked to it.
The state government’s scholarship Bhagirath scheme of providing Rs 500 every month up to five years to one lakh meritorious students for higher education would be based on Aadhaar. The UPA chairperson also launched the state government’s Rajiv Gandhi Digital Student Yojana of distributing 56,000 laptops to meritorious school students and distributing motorized tri-cycles to the physically challenged persons. Three beneficiaries each of both the schemes were awarded at the function.

It is better to have more cards for different purposes. If one is lost other cards can be used to get back to your identification. In case you lose AADHAAR card you are lost for ever. Whatever authorities promise they wont keep it up. This a kind of loot. It is just like direct cash allowance through bank where the top person himself can get the benifit than the receiver to pay at different stages for getting the money. Let the people who have got AADHAAR felt any type of benefit. I enquired some they just tell sheepishly " the govt. told we got" We are really like sheep. WE just rush if a scheme is introduced. Since this project has not taken up well by the people they are now threatening by so many ways. Better it should be discussed at different forums.
