India will seal border with Pak by 2018

India has decided to completely seal its international border with Pakistan by December 2018. A “border security grid“ would also be put in place as per the suggestions of the four states that border Pakistan. The decisions were taken at a review meeting chaired by Union home minister Rajnath Singh at Jaisalmer on Friday .
The monitoring would be done at the home ministry -level as well as at the state government and BSF levels. The government would get technological assistance to seal off the riverine sections of the border. On the possibility of a laser wall along the Pakistan border, Singh said the Centre was considering how physical and non-physical barriers could be used.
India shares a 3,323-km (including the Line of Control) land border with Pakistan running along the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and J&K.
The decision to seal the border with Pakistan has come in the wake of heightened tension since the September 18 terror attack on an Indian Army camp at Uri, J&K, and the Indian Army's subsequent surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) on September 29.
Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Gujarat MoS for home Pradipsinh Jadeja, J&K chief secretary B R Sharma, the DGPs of the four states and top BSF officials were present at the meeting.
