One more metro corridor planned for Hyderabad

Even before the 72-km Metro Rail project can be taken up by the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd and 30 acres of private land for the purpose can be taken up by the authorities, a state government agency is mooting plans to add a new metro rail corridor. This will be a 12-km metro rail corridor between JNTU, Kukatpally, and Gachibowli via Hi-Tec City, Madhapur. the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC) has already got a feasibility study done for this line. DLF Metro Ltd, which prepared the preliminary report, said that 100 acres of land be required for the corridor. The cost of the corridor could work to about Rs 1,643 crore. Nearly 2.7 lakh ridership is expected for the new metro in the first year and 1.5 lakh during weekends. Only three-car trains are being planned in the new metro route, which would have 13 stations. “Already a preliminary report was submitted to APIIC last month and a modified report will be submitted to Hyderabad Metro Rail for seeking the government’s approval,” said DLF Metro executive director C B K Rao.
