NaMo 3D

Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi on Sunday became digitally omnipresent as launched his hi-tech campaign blitz and donned a brand new 3D avatar ahead of the assembly elections in December. He, however, used the ancient epic of Ramayana to hit back at Congress for calling him a monkey and a rat.
Immediately after observing a two minute silence to mourn the demise of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackery, Modi let loose a barrage of snide remarks at the Congress.
Taking a virtual walk on an empty stage in four cities simultaneously while broadcasting live from the BJP’s war room near Adalaj,he said, “A Congress leader recently called me a monkey.Probably,he hasn’t read the Ramayana or he would have known about the power of monkeys. I am Hanuman and six crore Gujaratis are my Ram whom I serve. Another Congress leader called me a rat. I am proud to be a rat that is vehicle of Ganpati.”
Blue screens lit up in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot as he spoke and 3D projectors flashed his image in front of an empty background. There were no photographs of the BJP’s stalwarts on the backdrop, not even the party’s lotus symbol.
All the same, the audiovisual campaign was a crowd-puller in all four cities. Ahmedabad saw more than 10,000 people thronging Lalbaug Ka Raja ground in Naranpura for the screening. However, the sound went off air at least thrice, testing the patience of the crowds.
The glitches, however, did not stop Modi from challenging Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chief to replicate Gujarat’s growth model and seek votes on a development plank. “I want the Delhi government to tell me why the agriculture growth is just two per cent nationally whereas Gujarat’s is 11 per cent,” he added. “I challenge the Congress to go to the people and seek votes on the development plank.”
He said Congress leaders were frustrated as they were not able to loot Gujarat as they had looted the country. “Don’t allow them to loot Gujarat,” Modi added. He also took a jibe at CBI saying candidates will be from Congress but elections will be contested by the CBI.
