Amma says no alliance with Congress, BJP

Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa ruled out an alliance with either the Congress or the BJP for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, saying that both parties worked against the state on the Cauvery issue.
Whether it is Congress or BJP, which is in power in Karnataka, they are “united” and “determined” about not releasing a single drop of water to TN, a combative Jaya told partymen at the AIADMK general council meeting on the outskirts of Chennai. “To protect TN’s rights and prevent (Cauvery) delta regions from turning into a desert, we have to independently fight the coming Lok Sabha polls and win all 40 seats (39 in TN and one in Puducherry),” she said.
The posturing comes barely a week after Jayalalithaa attended the swearing-in ceremony of long-time friend and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi after his win in the state polls.
There is also a good chance the AIADMK chief is paving the ground for forming a third front.
“After winning all the seats, we have to create a situation where we go to the Centre and take decisions,” Jaya told her partymen, making clear her national aspirations.
