Rahul Gandhi has said Priyanka Vadra will not contest elections, seeking to cap speculation about his sister ever since she attended a meeting with senior Congress leaders last week.
Denying Priyanka taking on an active political role or contest polls, Rahul said, “Priyanka is my sister, she is my friend. She is also an active Congress worker. And so, she is helping to strengthen me and the organization. I don’t think she would have an electoral role.”
The comment during an interview to a Hindi daily may put a stop to the persistent speculation that Priyanka has increased her activities in the party and could assume a more active political role. There have been reports that she may even contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
