DMIC picks up speed in Maharashtra

The district administration has sent a proposal in regard with the second phase of land acquisition process of 2,246 hectares in Bidkin for the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project to the state government for approval under MID Act, 1961, section 32 (1) and has demanded approval of Rs 1,314 crore as compensation for the farmers.
District land acquisition officer Sambhaji Adkune said, “The DMIC land acquisition process has gained momentum. The district administration has forwarded the proposal to the state seeking permission for acquisition of 2,246 hectares.”
“After the government gives its nod the further process of payment of compensation to farmers would start. The administration is expecting Rs 1,314 crore which would be paid as compensation to Bidkin farmers under the second phase of land acquisition by March-end,” he said.
“The administration, supported by land record officials, completed the process of land measurement of 2,351 hectares,” he said. The district administration has received consent letter for acquisition of 2,100 hectares from 2,297 farmers.
The corridor covers a distance of 1,482 km and passes from seven states. The DMIC in Maharashtra covers Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Pune, Dhule and Nandurbar districts and influences on 18% of the total area of the state. Out of all these cities covered Aurangabad is part of the DMIC Early Bird project which includes Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Park and International Convention centre and has been proposed over an area of 8,340 hectares.
The land acquisition in the second phase under the DMIC project is being carried out in five villages – Bidkin, Banni Tanda, Bangal Tanda, Nilajgaon and Nandalgaon.
The land acquisition of 555 hectares of land at Karmad was completed under the first phase of DMIC land acquisition project in October 2012, in which the beneficiaries were offered Rs 23 lakh per acre.
