Isro's Rs.450-crore Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) crossed an important milestone at 4.30 pm on Wednesday with the successful completion of the second trajectory correction manoeuvre.
Isro chairman K Radhakrishnan said, “It went off exactly as we had planned and it was successful.“ He said the third such exercise will take place in August and the final one in September first week.
MOM's much-awaited rendezvous with the Red Planet is scheduled for September 24, 2014. As of Wednesday , MOM had flown 466 million kilometers in an elliptical trajectory around the sun.
