Shiv Sena releases Vision Document for Maharashtra

Shiv Sena became the first political party in the state to release its vision document in the run-up to the Assembly elections. The document, which lists the programmes that the party would run if elected to power, includes a “fitting” memorial for Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray and creation of a public park in place of the Mahalaxmi Race Course. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray chose to release the vision document simultaneously in 13 cities through video-conferencing.
Some of the promises that Uddhav made include the inclusion of a railway line on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, which will connect Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. The Sena also has plans to develop the eastern waterfront of Mumbai and the unutilised land of the Mumbai Port Trust for public use. The plan envisages setting up of murals on the waterfront, showcasing India’s fight for Independence from 1857 to 1947.
On the industrial front, the Sena says it will review the Special Economic Zone policy and try to make it also beneficial for farmers who part with their land. It promises to provide a minimum of 12-hour electricity to all water pumps used by farmers and set up two to three centres for testing soil health in each district.
Uddhav claimed that while this vision document was that of the Shiv Sena, they would sit down again with the allies to draft a combined document.
