Governor of the Year

The Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan has been conferred “Governor of the Year“ award by the British journal Central Banking. The award recognises Rajan's focussed approach in leading the Reserve Bank of India during his first year as the bank's governor.
“Although there is still much to do, his decisive policy actions based on robust analysis and deep understanding of the underlying causes have contributed significantly to changing perceptions about the strength of the Indian economy,“ the quarterly journal said in a release.
The awards were judged by a panel made up of the Central Banking editorial team and editorial advisory board, comprising former senior central bank governors from around the world.
